Chrysler PT Cruiser Dealer Reviews, 2000-2007
Mick's North Hills Chrysler, PA (CruiserKid) 18:30 Thursday, 11-7-2000
Ordered 10/18 - was guaranteed delivery by March 1st. We'll be cruising by 1/1/2001! Salesperson was always well informed & knowledgeable. Also was excellent with respect to keeping us updated - considering that we are out of state & they agreed to have the PT delivered from the factory to a different destination in our state. Fair - Purchased at MSRP - no games.
Lockwood Chrysler, Oakville, ON Canada (Katherine) 13:54 Friday, 11-15-2000
Lockwood is an excellent dealer. They happily put up with me calling every 2 weeks to find out the status of my order! This is my second car I bought from them, my mom and sister have also bought cars from them. They are my service dealer as well, and they are very helpful, friendly and committed to delivering excellent service.
Laporte Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Laporte, IN (B Young) 22:58 Friday, 8-7-2001
Salesman Bob Burdine brought out the keys and suggested we take a long ride in it. We did, and liked it. We wound up buying it, at MSRP, minus a discount, and an excellent trade-in deal. They said that they only sell at MSRP or less, unlike other dealers in the area. When we went to pick it up we were out and on the road in 45 minutes. A very pleasant experience. Can't wait to see if the service is as good.
Galeana and Palm Automotive Florida (Mary Lancaster) 19:49 Sunday, 8-16-2001
All I can say is if you want to deal with an honest dealership in Southwest Flordia do not go to either dealer! I repeat do not go! My dear husband took me for my birthday to buy a black PT. I have never wanted a car so badly. Well from the moment we sat down with the dealer I knew we were in trouble. Right off of the bat we were told we had to take a $1000 protection package....paint, undercoating, fabric or we couldn't buy the PT. Well since we were going to least the vehicle we said we didn't want any of it! The salesman then cross it off and said okay, because we got up to leave. Well we signed the papers left the dealship, me driving my PT loving it! I went back the next day for detailing the vehicle and I mentioned to the finance person that the figures were not right and he agreed. Come to find out the protection package had been added on! The salesman told me don't you remember I got the sales manager to cut the price in half! NO I Don'T! Well with a little arguing or heated discussion I got them to take it off! Well to make a long story short, the PT was detailed but when the hubby heard of what they had done he was PO-ed to say the least. We took a ride to the dealer that evening and after a long heat conversation my husband told them where they could put there PT! This wasn't the only lie either that we caught them in. We were told since they don't make any money on the PT that all buyers are required to take the protection package! Whether you know it our not they will sneak it in! Alas there goes my b-day present. But the best is yet to come!! When I got home that evening I got on the net and looked up other dealers within 50 miles of Fort Myers for my beloved PT. I contacted Palm Automotive about 40 miles north. Told the sales manager my story and the lies and he assured me that if he could find me a PT there would be nothing added on unless I wanted it added on! Well he called later in the day and told me he located on and would have it the following afternoon. Goody Goody, NOT! Well the hubby and I drove the hour north in the pouring rain. Well me met with the sales manager and guess what we were told? The car had paint protector and fabric protector on it. He told us it came to him that way from another dealer. Well needless to say we were not happy campers! At this point we were both so in love with the PT we decided to purchase instead of lease that it was okay that this was done to the vehicle. But........we were then told that a pin stripe package was added on at the dealer that sent the vehicle! Well we know someone who does pin striping and since the striping actually wasn't on the PT we told him we didn't want it take it off the price. We were then told he couldn't sell it with out the package! What it wasn't even on the PT? But he was charge for it he said. Well if you don't take it off we don't want it! So we walked because he wouldn't take off what wasn't there to begin with. He lost a sale over $150. pin stripe package! Dumb huh? Well I was heart broken and fuming at the same time. Chewed my nails all the way home and they are fake so you know how pissed I was! When I got home I called the dealer when he got the PT from and guess what? The paint and fabric protection wasn't put on at their dealship and the stripe package wasn't on the invoice either! Another dealer same kind of lies! I filed two formal complaints against the dealers with Chrysler. I am now waiting for my PT to arrive at the dealer that send the PT to Palm Automotive. One snag thought the PT has heated seat, gee just what I need in SUNNY FLORIDA! But I will take them and I pray that I don't get lied to a third time, know the saying three strikes and your out. I even asked if I could buy directly from Chryslers. No way. Well I am crossing my fingers and toes hoping all goes well. Well when this deal goes down you will all here the continuing saga one way or another. '( for now
LOU GRUBB CHRYSLER JEEP / PHOENIX ARIZ (tommy t) 23:47 Sunday, 8-16-2001
we took delivery of our pt cruiser but not with out a fight and a gouge job. then, after delivery, it took us another 6 months to get back the $1400 plus dollars they over-charged us at delivery ! this is an AUTO-NATION dealership that is using the LOU GRUBB name. LOU GRUBB had a very good reputation in the Phoenix Az. area for many years AND obviously AUTO-NATION knew this. SO, they the dealership using the lou grubb name to attract customers. the GM at this dealership cussed me out on the phone and even hung up on me hoping i would back out on my purchase so he could sell MY car to someone else for more $$$$$. this guy pissed off alot of customers who had legitimate orders on file and had waited months for their pt cruisers. this dealership sent out "BOGUS" cancellation letters to customers, knowing full well that their cars were already built or about to be built. the letter stated "Chrysler CANNOT BUILD YOUR CAR SO WE (LOU GRUBB CHRYSLER JEEP / PHOENIX ) ARE F O R C E D TO CANCELL YOUR ORDER". the letter was full of lies, 1/2 truths and mis-leading statements. Chrysler has no control over these dealers and this dealership gave more than a few trusting 'would be' customers the royal shaft !! i and a few others here in phoenix are seeking legal counsel now. they should be ashamed of themselves , especially the GM at this dealership but obviously they are too busy making a profit off all the pt cruisers they robbed from honest customers to really care. this ugly story has repeated itself at more than a few dealerships across this country and now someone needs to stand up and sue these guys. the paper trail is there and the witnesses are many. lets go get um !!!
Carmax - Inglewood, CA (Brad Banker) 17:6 Tuesday, 9-2-2001
They have 40 to 50 PTs is stock and sell them for $500.00 UNDER MSRP. You can even check out every car they have on the lot through their web page. I drove 50 miles to avoid my local dealer's "market adjustment or $3000 - $7000.
HUNTER DODGE- LANCASTER-CA. (gil rocha) 16:52 Thursday, 9-11-2001
AFTER GOING OUT OF TOWN TO 5 DIFFERENT DEALERS- I WAS REALLY DISSAPOINTED AND MAD AT THEIR OVERPRICED DEALS AND EVEN THOUGH OF BUYING SOMETHING DIFFERENT- I WENT OT MY LOCAL DEALER-HUNTER DODGE IN LANCASTER CA- IN TWO WEEKS GOT MY 2002 PT- AT STICKER PRICE !!- AND IN A VERY PROFESSIONAL MANNER- ADVISING EVERYONE IN THE L.A. AREA TO GO THERE- GIL ROCHA A HAPPY AND SATISFIED PT BUYER.
MIDWAY Chrysler/Jeep, CA (TIM WARD) 10:6 Wednesday, 10-7-2001
Did my homework on the net and got three reponses for the PT I was looking for. Two of the dealers wanted Full Sticker Price. Ben Smith, Sales /\at/\ Midway, responded with a very competitive price and we finalized the deal. The day after I signed on the dotted line Chrysler announced their 4.9% Financing. I contacted Ben and we rewrote the deal at the more favorable rates. Anyone in So. CA, specifically San Diego, who's looking to buy a PT Cruiser needs to contact Ben Smith /\at/\ Midway Chrysler/Jeep.
Outer Banks Chrysler, NC (Kathy Morrison) 8:27 Thursday, 10-8-2001
Good experience, good selection, and good price. No gouging and NO "undercoat/paint/trim mandaory options". There are still a couple 2001's and several 2002's on the lot, one TE with cloth and all others are Limiteds. They seem to sell a lot of them because we live in a tourist area (NC beach) and have a lot of transients in the summer, so I expect that equals a good supply from Chrysler. The car is perfect so far (100 miles!).
Melton Sales Claremore, OK (Brien Vaughn) 10:40 Thursday, 10-8-2001
Excellent dealer. Sells all products (including PT, Prowler, & Viper) at invoice. Why be happy that you paid MSRP, when you can save some real money and there are NO salespeople. Family operation is small, experienced, & professional. Would buy from them again in a heartbeat!
Central Chrylser-Jeep in Norwood, Mass. (Carol Andersen) 22:33 Thursday, 10-8-2001
As far as the dealership. I will say they had several to choose from and we got $1700 under sticker price with no trade. There was some probs with the money to be financed and the money I was putting down getting also financed but I caught that and the P$S was written up again correctly. We originally had a trainee salesperson and he definately needed more training. Thank God the manager jumped in to save the sale because we were walking on this kid. He was not offering any kind of deal and we were not happy with the amount of money they were going to allow for our 1989 Audi so we did not end up trading it. All in all we felt pleased with the final deal we made. I just thought the buying of it could have been smoother and it could have taken less time. (2 hours the first night and another 2 hours at pick up because their errors. If you buy at Central just keep your eyes open when the paperwork is put before you to sign. Make sure the figures are correct.

Haynes Jeep/Crysler Richmond, VA (Wes) 13:35 Tuesday, 11-11-2001
I pickep up my new Cruiser last night and have been like a little kid at Christmas ever since. Haynes Jeep claims a 5-star service and from my experiences so far, I'd give em 6! My rep (John Almstead) was both curtious and efficient with my wife and I. I can only hope that when it comes times for service, that the techs show the same professionalism that I received in the showroom. You just gotta LOVE the cruiser...I sure do!

red bluff crysler/dodge-red bluff,ca (vicki braeger) 16:30 Tuesday, 0-15-2002
The dealer here in Red Bluff, CA has the worst work ethics I have encountered in my entire life. I was paying for a service and they refused to do it because I did not purchase my car from them. I asked them to a least change the oil and they still refused. Even when the Corp. got involved, they still refused. They told me to take it to a Dealer some 30-plus miles away. I placed a formal complaint at the corporate level. I have never heard of such a thing and I think Crysler shouldn't let them be an autorized dealer, sell them parts, cars, or let them use the Crysler name. Vicki Braeger Red Bluff, CA
City Chrysler/AL (Chris) 5:14 Wednesday, 0-16-2002
At first they didn't even know the vehicle was on the lot(I had checked their inventory and price list via internet)until they found it in their garage being prepped for the line. Test drove it while it still had plastic and styrofoam on it and was still impressed enough to start the purchase dance. From somewhere (anatomically opposite of their head) they pulled a figure out that was almost 3000 over the msrp on their web-site(and were greatly upset when I quoted them their own price list) and finally showed me their invoice and agreed to sell me the vehicle at msrp. Afterwards, they tried to make up the difference on my trade-in by offering 2000 less than its value, and, after lenghty conclaves amongst themselves, counter offers (where they would "pay" off my truck and I would "pay" them the difference plus money down (3800 total))flat out refusals and scribbling down lots of numbers, the deal was done to my satisfaction. Before being able to sign the paperwork, the computer system crashed and I got to wait several hours for it to come back on-line. All in all I spent almost 8 hours at the dealership, and had I just blindly let them lead me, I would have been pranged to the tune of close to 5000 just in initial costs and trade-in losses, all the while they were smiling and telling me what a great deal I was getting. I understand the profit motivation, but this goes beyond reasonable compensation (perhaps they're Ferengi Motors). As for the vehicle, have only had it a short while and have yet to be disappointed with anything. Go forewarned and forearmed if dealing with City Chrysler, they'll work you a good deal if they have to, but be expecting to fight for it.
Fremont Motors, Powell, WY (Dave) 16:10 Sunday, 1-3-2002
Tracy Wait, Stanley Motors, CA (Briana) 7:54 Friday, 1-15-2002
I researched painting a Cruiser champagne before the light almond pearl came out. Now I have one, and the cost and wait to paint is saved! Tracy made me feel very comfortable; he could never be accused of being a "typical car salesperson." It was really nice to be able to take the car overnight for a more "real time test drive." Stanley Motors has a large inventory with more of the features people are looking for, and high turnover, so if it's not in now, it may be soon! I bought my Limited Edition two weeks ago for my birthday, and any hesitation I may have had melts away daily. (I only have had one car before, still have it, 15.5 years old) It may have been possible to save initial cost by going to a different dealer, but being able to deal with pleasant people (which is important since maintenance is done here) from the start is worth that for sure--that difference may have been $300-$1000--not much for the benefit of peace of mind/guts.
Dixie Chrysler Brampton, Ontario, Canada (PTMikey) 8:35 Wednesday, 1-20-2002
This dealership has about 18 (er now 17) remaining 2001 Limited Edition PT's in stock, I guess they over bought and now have to sell them since the 2002 being released. Received a fantastic deal on price, warranty, etc. Tony (my salesman) made the best experience of my life (as I now own a PT Cruiser) even better.

This dealership has the audacity to charge $5ooo.oo to $7ooo.oo above sticker. I will never buy from them and will encourage others to boycott!

Jack Powell, CA (Jim Debelak) 16:36 Friday, 3-12-2002
Ordered early February 2001, Delivered late April 2001. The first red one the dealer got had all of the same options that I had ordered. Dealer very concerned with ensuring that customers got the cars they ordered as quickly as possible. If a dealer car came in like one that was on order, customer had first choice to buy. Very professional, and now that they have them on the lot, willing to negotiate. No horror stories here.
Reedman - Langhorne, PA (Mrs. Kruz) 19:21 Tuesday, 5-4-2002
Absolutely the best experience I could ever have in both sales personnel, selection, price and delivery. 5-Stars all the way around. Would definitely buy from them again.
Northgate in Cincinnati, Ohio (Matt) 19:2 Sunday, 8-29-2002
Very good experience. Car was perfect, salesman - Charlie, was excellent. Highly recommend both the car and this dealer.
Norm Reeves Chrysler Temecula California (Joe Brown) 21:46 Sunday, 9-20-2002
Salesman Eric Henscheid was incredible. Knowledgeable and attentive he was able to answer all my questions with no b.s. Test drove the turbo first. He didn't mind that I didn't want to spend that much money. I found the car I bought. It was a lemon law buy back for a rough idle complaint. He provided me with ALL of the documentation so I knew what I was getting in to. I liked the car and found no real problems with it. Still have no problems. Added bonus was the $11,900 sticker. Once people hear lemon law they don't want to buy it so they had a blow out price on it. I lucked out and got it. Less than 11,000 miles too. I can't explain why but I didn't like the sales manager. Eric made certain I didn't have to deal with him personally. I haven't needed the service department yet but I hear they are just as good. I have to give my experience at Norm Reeves an A+. I'm even sending my daughter there for her PT Cruiser.
Grubbs Chrylser Bedford Texas (Dallas) (Mike) 9:26 Friday, 10-1-2002
I shopped around for a PT Cruiser extensively and Grubb's Internet guy (Brian Cooper) had the best price withing 300 miles of Austin, TX and no hassle at all at pick up.
Big Billy Barrett, DFW, Texas (pbcruiser) 16:56 Thursday, 0-30-2003
Dealt with Robert Berman -- very professional, and accommodating. Knew his stuff about the car, and put absolutely no disturbing pressure on for the sale. Test drove one evening, went away to think about it, and went back the very next day to specify and purchase. They had all colors available there on the lot to view in person, so I could see that the green I had in mind wasn't quite what I thought it might be -- chose the blue instead. They found "my" car at another dealership 50 miles away, and went up to get it the next day, bringing it back and prepping it. Financing stuff took longer than I thought it would, but that may be their system and backup at the time. Robert also took me over and introduced me to the service manager -- a nice touch. Would definitely recommend dealing with Robert, and Barrett's... and a week later, I'm still in love with this car... PB
Crown Chrysler of Greensboro NC (PT Owner) 16:35 Wednesday, 1-5-2003
Nice dealership, friendly, knows the car, and my salesman "Tex" was absolutly the greatest. They have the 110% price protection guarentee and you will get the best deal. Call "Tex" at 888-218-0534 or email him at esmith/\at/\crownchrysler.dealerspace.com

Worst car buying experience i ever had. They were Rude, Unknowlegable, Unhelpful and Dishonest.
Hadleigh Carport Ipswich Suffolk England (Mandy Francis) 11:3 Tuesday, 2-4-2003
I thoroughly enjoy my PT Cruiser and am proud to be an owner. The car is easy to drive and give great performance. I do have a blind spot when driving on the motor way. Also having only one reversing light which is quite low down does not assist when reversing I am going to check out a parking sensor but this is still the best car that I have driven ever! I have recommended the PT Cruiser to all my friends and so far two have pourchased one in Canada and one in London! On a sad note my car was vandalised and the badge ripped off! The dealership are going to deal with it for me to stop any further distress. They are a great bunch of guys who have ben very thoughtful and helpful.
Ed Tomko Chrysler (Bob) 13:24 Friday, 3-4-2003
I have had a couple of minor problems with my PT and they took care of me each time. The first was the weather stripping on one door started cracking- they replaced it. The second was on one of my mags the chrome began to crack and flake and they replaced that. While replacing the mag, they noticed that I had a severe gouge in the tire and they notified me, which was replaced. If it wasn't for them, I could have been stranded somewhere or possibly worse!
Maxwell Chrysler Dodge Plymouth Jeep Eag (Lisa) 16:54 Thursday, 3-24-2003
I cannot speak highly enough of this dealership or the people that work there. We went in on a Sunday, looked at the Cruisers and went back on Monday and test drive a Patriotic Blue Pearl, Limited Edition 2003 and loved it. They sent us home in it to make sure we loved it. We went back in the next morning and signed the papers and everything from the minute we walked in was nothing but easy. Ben is honest and very upfront about everything and I will never buy from any other dealership again!
Teterboro CJ, New Jersey (Dave) 12:31 Monday, 4-19-2003
Great dealer. Bought a used vehicle and they covered a fairly major repair even though there was no formal warranty on it. Very nice and polite.

Reedman World Car & Truck Center, PA (Yardley Cruiser) 18:34 Wednesday, 11-20-2000
This dealership is horrible. When we order our PT Cruiser they took a $500.00 deposit and then gave us a "price". Then when the car came in it was missing some of the options we had ordered and they charged us more than the agreed price. Since I didn't have the foresight to order one from 2 different dealers I had to pay what they told us and take the car with the missing options. My biggest complaint was that when I was talking to the VP (owners son Rich Reedman) he wouldn't talk to me in person. He would only talk to me on the phone and because the dealership is a very big one with many franchises I could not find his office. He was very condescending and basically told me that I was out of luck and that if I didn't want the car that they would refund my money and sell the car in 10 minutes because they had a waiting list of people who didn't place orders that wanted them. Then when it came time to deliver the car they had some teenage kid drive the car around to show us how to work all of the options and I knew more about the car then he did. He tried to show us where to add oil if we needed to and how to prop open the hood and he couldn't figure out where the hood prop went. Any way I urge everyone not to buy any car from this dealership as they are very unpersonable and they only look at you as the amount of profit they are going to make on you!

This is my 2nd PT. I had a 2001 Limited The man Majid Vahdatl bent over backwards to help me and get me a good deal on my trade in. They were awesome there. He was extremely helpful and worked really hard to help me in every aspect of the purchase. Highly recommeneded.
Larry H. Miller Suburu, Utah (Kent) 23:24 Tuesday, 10-25-2003
Advertisment said entertainment package with every new and used car. 20 Jazz tickets, 20 meals, 20 movie tickets. What did we get? FOUR TICKETS in the nosebleed section to the Utah Jazz and Atlanta Hawks game. $10.00 each ticket. Wow thanks for nothing. What did they say "Its not in your deal" Thanks for nothing Steve Miller, son of the big guy. I also had to fight them for a keyless entry and an extra key for my vehicle. I would never go back to a Larry H. Miller dealership. They don't care about the customer just there wide wallets. DON'T GO TO THEM. try Gus, Jerry, Tim, Ken, Mike, Barber, Butterfield, Rick, or Henry. They will treat you better.
Cutrubus Motors Layton UT (Dan Stephensen) 17:17 Tuesday, 11-9-2003
I have had my Cruiser into Cutrubus before for dealer covered problems. The most recent was 12-9-2003. Angie called to tell me my car was done. That surprised me since I had the car towed in after closing the previous day and was told they couldn't get to it til the following day. Expecting this to take a while I had rented a car. The error code showed a faulty Transmission Control Module, one of 3 modules on the Cruiser. I am really glad I didn't wasted money on an aftermarket extended warranty since this is covered on the 7 year factory warranty. Quick, Friendly service will keep me a customer at Cutrubus for life. Tip: spring for the K & E FIPK. You will love the increased performance and MPG. Thanks Cutrubus of Layton UT... SATISFIED CUSTOMER, DAN =)
Bill Kay Chrysler (Daniel Novak) 19:49 Saturday, 11-13-2003
My wife and I were very interested in the new Pacifica from Chrysler. We were shopping via the internet and were put in touch with Thomas "GUS" Gustave the internet sales rep. I had a Cavalier and a Camry in trade. The Camry was not running, it needs a new water pump and timing belt. Gus told me that he could not gaurentee any price for the Camry without first seeing it. If the problem was indeed a water pump he would offer us $4000. I called Gus back and told him that I would be willing to have the car towed out if he would agree to the price of $30500 on an in stock Pacifica. I also told him that I was concerned I wouldn't have enough in trade to meet the 10% down required for the 0% 60 month financing. I inquired how much more cash I would need to complete the deal. He told me that we can work that out in person and to have the car towed in. He then agreed to the $30500 price for the Pacifica and $5525 in trade if the Camry needed no other work then a water pump. I proceeded to pay $80 to a local tow shop and had the Camry towed out. My wife and I then proceeded to the dealer. Once there we were informed that this price was with the factory $3000 cash back. I refered back to our conversation and how I specifically said I wanted 0% and this was the price given. Gus claimed that he said no such thing. Gus lied to our face and his manager proceeded to tell us how they couldn't possibly offer that price. I again spoke of our phone conversation and Gus apparently had amnesia and could only manage to smirk at us as his manager told us that we should have had the quote emailed to us for proof. The bottom line is DON'T TRUST THIS DEALER! In the future I will make sure I have everything in writing before trusting a phone price. We are still going to buy a Pacifica, just not from this dealer.
Wharncliffe Chrysler London Ontario (Lisa) 7:29 Thursday, 1-5-2004
I bought my New car (june 12 2001) and was excited. Not even a month after I had the car is was back into the dealership as I started having problems with my car July 2001. Since then I have had a new steering rack (Nov 2001), engine (Jan 2002), barrings in steering coloum (2002), new window seals (2002-2003), new dash board (2002-2003),two or more fule sending units (over the course of my ownership of the car), new gauges in dash, I educated this dealership of problems in the past and they said everything was fine but I took it to another Chrysler dealership and they found and fixed the problems at that time. I have also let them know about my rear defrost not working and a lose rear windsheild(2003) and now January 2004 I need a transmission and my second engine needs to be looked at again that I have been complaining about for years. But now I'm over my warrenty. Now I'm stuck oweing alot of money (over ten thousand dollars) on a car that I can not afford to fix therefore I have a 23000 dollar car that I can not drive. I have talked to mult. dealerships and no one will help. I had an agreement to get out of this car back in 2001-2002 but was told to get myself a laywer as it was not going to happen. Today 02/05/2004 I have 118666 km on my car. I have also missed alot of work because this car kept breaking down. I can not drive my car and Chrysler will not help I have called Chrysler in Windsor Ontario Canada. I hope no one else has these problems. Now I have to contact a laywer. I have all my work orders and still nothing. As for my first new car buying experience, It's not a good one and everyone I know knows it. I'll make sure that I never recommend a Chrysler product to anyone.

Haynes Jeep Virginia (JeepLemon) 13:39 Wednesday, 3-14-2004
Hello - I feel it's important to relay my story to those who are considering buying a Jeep, especially one from Haynes Jeep in Richmond, VA. My dealer experience was horrendous...read on... I bought a new '03 automatic in VA & the car was in for service immediately due to excessive vibration at regular driving speeds. It was a complete nightmare & (Haynes)the dealer & Daimler Chrysler would not budge to correct the issues. Haynes, the "5 star" dealer I bought from gave me the run aroud (especially the service manager Doug Cooke, who essentially has to defer all concerns to his boss before providing any answers) & I drove a rental more than I did my new car for the first 3 months. They were more interested in "fixing" the vehicle than getting me one that worked! Of course, noone buys a new car with the expectation that it will be in the shop & require several major repairs, so you can imagine the frustration with this situation. After several trips to the service department & 5 different service attemots at departments in my area, they finally discovered several Manufacturing defects in the Ring & pin, which they changed out. Also there were defects in the front & rear axle which were also changed. The car was out of service for several days & actually qualified for the Lemon Law in my state. I pursued the Lemon Law, but I found out that it is entirely up to Daimler Chrysler's District Rep to make the decision. He didn't budge & avoided me. I documented everything and ended up with a file 1.5 inches thick. They kept side stepping the problem & rarely returned phone calls. Most car makers have an arbitration panel for such cases, Daimler DOES NOT,nor do they participate in the BBB online. The General Attorney was involed, but nothing came of it. I even purchased the extended warranty...Be leary of the Warranty also, as it's handled by a 3rd party. I finally hired a lawyer & then realized the amount of money it would cost to pursue, so I dumped the car & bought a Honda...essentially giving in. Unfortunately, I lost about $4,000 by making the switch, but the frustration involved was intolerable. I do know some happy Jeep owners, but my experience with them has been terrible & I will never buy from them again. It is really a win or lose situation & the luck of the draw. I was VERY unlucky. I've talked to other owners with similar problems, & the gamble of getting a good vehicle from them seems like a risk I wouldn't take, nor suggest to anyone. Unfortunately, online review forums are my only redemption. Hope this helps!
Nanaimo Chrysler, Nanaimo BC, Canada (Ted Brewer) 20:10 Tuesday, 5-22-2004
Took PT in to the dealer today for the first time as we had our first two services done at Larry Allen Chrysler in Parsons, Kansas and Orr Chrysler in Orr, Minnesota while on a short 8,500 mile x-country jaunt from BC, Canada to Maine and back. Our complaints were a stuck CD changer and a big stone chip in front of the driver. All will be taken care of; the new CD player is ordered as is the windshield, and our PT looks like new after a thorough wash and vacuuming. Great service at all 3 dealers! Thanks Chrysler.

CarMax, Davie, Florida (Kat) 20:26 Thursday, 9-14-2004
We went to CarMax last Saturday expecting to end up in some "vanilla" Japanese sedan. We found one, but my husband had reservations since he noticed that I was not too thrilled (I'm the gearhead in the family, we were there because we needed to put my beloved '89 Taurus SHO into semi-retirement after 250k). We went back outside to see what else there was in our price range (we had seen a paper with a description of a "purple" PT Cruiser, which I was a little apprehensive about because I didn't really want a "purple" car) and saw the PT...I was in love immediately. I was awestruck by the fact that it had 72k and I could not find any wear besides some scratches on the steering wheel and one very small ding in the rear. Oh, and it is considered "Dark Cranberry" not purple...so my husband is perfectly comfortable driving it! Our salesperson David was wonderful and we ended up getting it for the listed price which was $1600 below bluebook value. Picked it up on Monday and am loving it!
Royal Dodge Chrysler Jeep, Winnipeg Can (ecrush) 21:10 Friday, 9-29-2004
Very pushy and evasive sales personnel, unwilling to give full information about car, buyout cost if leasing, etc. Initially tried to sell me a 2003 with 13000 kms and few options, for the price of a new 2004. Insisted upon a refundable $500 deposit cheque to hold the car I was interested in, promised not to cash it, and then cashed it immediately. I had to fight like heck to get my money back. I would NEVER consider dealing with them again, and I'm telling all my friends, colleagues, acquaintances and relatives about my nightmarish experiences with Royal Dodge.
Eastern Chrysler Jeep Winnipeg Canada (ecrush) 21:14 Friday, 9-29-2004
What a difference from the hellish experience I had at Royal Dodge! Laid back, honest, forthright sales staff, who within minutes gave me more information than I sought. Made me an excellent purchase deal: 0 down, $1000 cash back, no payment for the first 45 days, ZERO INTEREST. Courteous, accommodating, and not the least bit exploitative. I recommend Eastern Chrysler to everyone in Manitoba.
BMW North of Houston (yamin) 20:36 Tuesday, 1-1-2005
I am 25 and I bought my first CAR, Nissan Altima, from BMW Houston North. I saw the deal on the internet through automation.com. I came from college station TX to the BMW dealership at Houston with great hopes. But I am sorry to say that I am extremely disappointed by the services given to me. Here are the reasons for my disappointment. 1. I did not expect a dealership likes of BMW not to get the battery of the car changed. The moment I took it out from the dealership after I bought it (9 pm at night), the car stopped working because the battery was old and it didn't pick up the load. So till 12 pm at night, I was stuck on the road trying to get the car fixed (bought 2 hours back). Note(Thanks to Mr. Taber the sales representative for fixing it) but he should have been responsible enough not to give me the car from the dealership at the first place, specially after knowing that I came from a place 100 miles from Houston and was driving back the same night. 2. Even though the service department recommended, that the serpentine belt of the car be changed (it costs 14$ and service charge is 70$ all over US), and the wheels rotated on the CAR (service worth 30$ all over US). This service was not done on the car. I got it fixed a week after I bought it. 3. The manager of USED CAR never ever answers his phone. He doesn't even have the courtesy of returning a message left by a customer. He is extremely arrogant; this is no way to treat your customer. I understand I bought a used car and will have some wear and tear, but such small works should not have been denied. That was extremely cheap. 4. Even before I bought the car, the manager of used car had promised to me that I will get a detailed description of the work done on the car the next morning. Off-course after I bought the car I got that 3 and a weeks latter. I kept calling no one had the courtesy not even Mr. Taber to keep me updated on why there was a delay and Mr. For sure this might be my first car, but not my Last, there are miles to go....But thanks to the COLD attitude of the management and some cheap decisions again by the management I am not coming back ever. Also my recommendations to my Family and Friends will be negative. A note to all the managers there...Please sit down and think you spend so much on marketing, and ads. and you forgot your basics....I am 25 right now I am a student, but I m coming to Houston this May, joining Toshiba International Corporation. You guys are an expert in case studies, I don't have to do it for you. I will never ever be able to forget my first experience of buying a car. This is my humble request, please in the future don't do such mistreatment to a customer.

Coleman Chrysler Jeep, Hightstown NJ (Rich Hutchinson) 14:52 Friday, 6-1-2005
Have bought from this dealer before (four times in fact). Buying the PT in June '05 was easiest yet. No funny business, they beat Carsdirect on price, and eLoan on the financing. Did decent on the trade. Service dept is very good as well. "Small town" dealer, not an automaul. Bob (salesman) and Steve (finance) were easy to deal with. After getting prices elsewhere and having difficulty getting idiot dealers to call back, Bob called back exactly when he said he would.
Bud's Auto Sales (Riggsby) 18:50 Saturday, 6-9-2005
I was tossed between a PTC and the new beetle. I new I wanted something different from the same old sedans. I looked into both vehicles on the internet and got scared off from buying a 2000 NB because of all the bad reviews and out right horror stories. So, seeing mostly good reviews and complaints that centered around gas mileage, blind spots and turning radius, all of which are minor in my opinion, I went with a used 03 PTC GT, fully loaded turbo. Boy am I one happy camper. I love this car. I found the sales receipt from when it was purchased new in 03 and could see it went for $25,000+. I feel a little guilty having only paid $13K. It is fun as heck to drive and I have yet to find anything to complain about. The dealer was a bit stuborn but he gave in to my price and I'm thrilled. No regrets about ditching that beetle!
Passport Chrysler Alexandria VA. (P.A. Friedrich) 8:41 Sunday, 6-10-2005
After deciding to buy a new car (I'd only bought used before), I wandered into Passport in Dec.'02, and a great salesman named ELIJAH SANDERS showed me through the Cruiser. I thought some more---WITHOUT the calls & pressure tactics I'd encountered elsewhere---and came back in to buy my '03 PT Cruiser in Jan.'03. Mr. Sanders got me exactly the car I wanted, an Electric Blue Limited Edition. He had to have to radio changed (I wanted the CD/cassette player), but it was no trouble. I drove out of there with a crazy grin, and it's been that way ever since. I can't say I've had NO problems: there was once when a spark plug cable had to be replaced, but that was easily taken care of (in about fifteen minutes!), as has all my routine maintanence, by ADAM ABRAMO and the rest of the marvelously professional, super-competent service bay people. And then there's KEVIN O'BRIEN, the Customer Services manager, who last year went through contortions to get truly beautiful woody panels installed on my baby (I'm sure I was NOT the easiest customer to deal with: WAY too many phone calls on my part, and not nearly enough patience!), and is now working on my next modification. I'd list the names of everyone in the place if I knew them: everyone there, the salesmen, the service people, the parts dept. ladies, the folks at the cashiers window, everybody from the mamagers to the guys cleaning the showroom, has always been professional, polite, helpful, and a real pleasure to meet. If I could marry a car deal
Greenbrier Dodge, VA (John) 20:22 Wednesday, 6-20-2005
2004 Dodge Durango Limited Hemi, nicknamed "The Lemon". How is it that a Chrysler Deadership gets a five star rating? It is my experience with Sodus Dodge in Sodus NY, Newport Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep in Newport RI, and worst of all, Greenbrier Dodge in Chesapeake VA, do NOT meet the five star rating they claim they maintain. These three dealerships have serviced my vehicle 9 times for the same casualty - intermittent availability of A/C. Most every mechanical part of my vehicle A/C system has been replaced. Not once has the electrical system been addressed. This failure has cascaded to the stereo, console lights, and air bag. All of which are intermittent and availability depends on the roll of my ignition. If not operational then shut off the car and restart until all systems are operational. Finally, after 14 months of complete frustration, Greenbrier Dodge Service Manager and Regional Manager Jim Brown claim there is "no fix available" as documented in my service receipt. Moreover, when faced with a Lemon Law suit, Greenbrier failed to fix the vehicle nor realistically attempt to replace the vehicle, and Mr. Jim Brown claimed that buy back was not an option. Sean, Greenbrier's Service Manager stated that "Mr. Brown, the Regional Manager, claimed that buy back is not an option and if the lemon law is to be applied then I (Jim Brown) will see you (me) in court". Now, my statement is . . . . THIS IS NOT FIVE STAR SERVICE. So, off I go to an attorney. My claim, as well documented, is a "sure thing" by Lemon Law attorneys. Unfortunately, I will have to clog the court system with a case that is readily supported by law. Would I ever buy another Chrysler product? ABSOLUTELY NOT! I recommend you spend the extra money and buy a BMW, Honda, or Toyota. Just in fuel savings alone, you will make your money back.
Falconi's 5- star, Belle Vernon PA (fred murtz) 23:28 Monday, 7-8-2005
Hard to imagine how they stayed under the radar 'til now. The saleslady (no longer there) had them drill my bumper for a front plate holder (not necessary in PA) against my wishes. The service department replaced the battery so I could test-drive the car, but failed to engage any of the retainers/fasteners for the air cleaner box, instead allowing it to flop around. I picked it up in the rain, and was intructed to return it for a two-hour appointment to have it 'buffed'. They were not expecting me on the day she insisted that I bring it in (at 7:30 A.M.) I live 45 minutes from this dealer. At 10:00 I was informed this was an all- day detail job, and their single loaner was not available. It was returned to me at about 3:30 with swirl marks, smudges, some sections not buffed, and rust stains on the chrome wheels. She offered me free oil changes and a loaner car while they corrected it, but my body shop advised against letting them go at my clear coat again. I told her I could see no reason to return, since my car left their shop in continually worse shape each time.
LaFlam Chrysler/Plymouth Runnemede NJ (Paul Charles) 22:5 Thursday, 11-21-2000
Great Dealer. Ordered April 22 car delivered July 11 at MSRP. Salesman was honest and admitted the delivery time was really unknown but estimated 10 to 14 weeks. Policy was to accept orders at MSRP. Admitted that if stock shipments were received they would be at what ever they could get. Another local dealer Berlin Chrysler Plymouth also gave me the same response. I purchase from Laflam because they were closer. I called several other local dealers and had a really mixed bag of responses. After delivery, I had a problem with the windshield washers. I called the dealer service department and told him of the problem. He said he was NOT aware of any repair/recall parts. I gave him the part numbers from this web site and he said he would check into the problem. He called back in two hours and scheduled an appointment to install the parts. He gave me a free oil change as a thank you for giving him the web site address. LaFlam is a family owned dealership that has been in Runnemede for 40 years. It's tiny by today's standards, it's five star and truly deserves it. I will probably call them in the next two weeks to try to upgrade my processor for better acceleration.

I have been trying for several years to get these clowns to stop telemarketing me. Worst mistake I ever made was to give them my phone number.
Windward Dodge Kaneohe, Hi (Bethany Sele) 20:1 Saturday, 10-19-2005

Dodge paid off my old loan and I got a great car! I love my PT Crusier and it handles great. I love driving at night with the top down! I think every one should drive one and it gets great gas milage! Thank-you Dodge/Chrylser for giving me a great car!!!
hamden chrysler, hamden ct. (lakewood) 10:31 Thursday, 11-29-2005
after driving a few hours to pick up a car that i was promised was in new condition, i was unpleasantly surprised to find scratches, dents, dings etc. the salesman jerry carr did not even have the decncy to apologize to me,,,,he merely dismissed me as if i was some idiot who lived around the corner....not hours away. this dealership should be put out of business for their unethical treatment of well meaning customers.
Amsterdam Chrysler Dodge in New York (Ray) 10:32 Tuesday, 0-17-2006
When I purchased my Stratus and extended warranty at Amsterdam Dodge dealership in Amsterdam, New York from sales consultant Harvery Humphrey on 4/28/01 I was given Free For Life Oil Change And Filter(for as long as I own the car). The service Department and Mr. Leo Pokerman tell me they have cancelled the program and it is no longer offered. I ask Mr. Pokerman how the dealership can break a contract they offered me. I up held my end of the contract and paid for my vehicle on time, I even paid it off one year early. Mr. Pokerman starts reading off my service history saying I got my free Oil Changes but decline the Tech's RECOMMENED SERVICES. There are no stipulations saying I have to get recommended services done at the dealership or the Dealership will break the contract. If I broke my end of the contract and didn't make my payments the Dealership would have taken my car back. Mr. Pokerman starts telling me how the Dealership was loosing out because I got around $500 worth of Oil Changes with my FREE FOR LIFE OIL AND FILTER. I told Mr. Pokerman to go all the way back in my service history to were I owned the car for two weeks brought it in several times for a bad pull, they never fixed it and told me I had to buy four new tires. Then told him how about the Extended Warranty I bought and used I believe one time to have the front hubs and bearings replaced. I pick the car up at the dealership service department drive about 30 miles north with my wife and kids in the car and the HUB came off, it was never bolted back on properly destroying the bearing. When I called the service department from the side off the road they told me it was a new problem and had nothing to do with the work that they had just finished and refused to have it towed and told me there was no place in Glens Falls I could take it to be looked at, it had to come back to Amsterdam. I told Mr.Pokerman that is when I stopped having any service work done in there service department. He then tells me that buying an extended warranty is a gamble like buying life insurance when you die you get nothing and still try's make it sound like the Dealership is loosing out and I'm taking advantage off the FREE FOR LIFE OIL CHANGE AND FILTER program given to me with the purchase of my vehicle and extended warranty that I paid off early. I guess the Dealership took the same gamble with offering the Free For Life Oil Change and Filter, feel they are loosing out so they just break a legal contract offered with a sale. He then continues trying to make more money for the dealership and try's to get me to buy a new car from him. At that point I told Mr.Pokerman that I was trying to resolve an issue with the dealership not holding up there end of a sales contract with there customers and that I didn't think I would ever be buying from Chrysler-Dodge-Plymouth dealership again and that I was calling the Better Business Bureau. Mr. Pokerman told me to go ahead and call the BBB.I understand the program was cancelled, fine then do not offer it to new customers or with new sales but I purchased my car four years ago and the Free For LIFE Oil Change And Filter is part of your contract with me so please honor it. I have sent complaints to the BBB, NYS Attorney General Office and everyone else I can think of with the same outcome. The Dealership refusing to honor the program. There reason is on the Certificate it says in big letters LIFETIME OIL AND FILTER CHANGE FOR AS LONG AS YOU OWN THIS VEHICLE. At the bottom in very smaller letters it says Dodge has the right to cancel with 6 months posted notice. So I say again DO NOT BUY FROM OR HAVE SERVICE DONE AT Amsterdam Chrysler Dodge they will just screw you any way they can!!! Better yet post a notice saying you are going to stop paying them in 6 months and stop. The customer should be intitled to be as dishonest as the dealership and have no consequences Thank you for your time!!!
Bancroft motors, Massachusetts (Robert Benharbone) 18:26 Sunday, 1-12-2006
My experience, very disapointed: 1) failure of the transmission (went to a closer dealer in Concord, MA. was told the tranys made with bad material, never heard before of failure. Cost $ 3,400.00 2) rear suspension, terrible design, completly replaced. I will never buy a car like it. I don't think that you will post this one!
Haynes Jeep Richmond, VA (Jeep Liberty Sport) 10:24 Tuesday, 1-14-2006
Haynes Jeep in Richmond is terrible. If you are thinking of buying from them, think twice...actually think three times about it! They are completely ridiculous when it comes to so called "customer service." They sold me a lemon & wouldn't admit it. Instead, they beat around the bush and made a bunch of half hearted repairs. BUYER BEWARE. Richard Carter lives up to his nickname of "Dick".
Haynes Jeep Richmond, VA (Pt cruizer Lemon) 10:27 Tuesday, 1-14-2006
I bought a PT Cruiser from Haynes Jeep in Richmond. The car test drove fine, but within a week, I had problems. Several problems. I took the car back to Haynes Jeep in Richmond and they weren't helpful at all. They gave me the run around and a bunch of excuses. I have total buyers remorse and am considering getting a lawyer to pursue the lemon law. Long story short. Don't deal with Haynes Jeep in Richmond Virginia.
Haynes Jeep Richmond, VA Lawsuit story (Warranty Blues) 10:31 Tuesday, 1-14-2006
For your enjoyment & caution...an articel from the Richmond TImes Dispatch In January 2003, I wrote about Jerry and Angie Barnes' extended warranty ordeal with Haynes Jeep Chrysler on West Broad Street. The couple had purchased a used Jeep Grand Cherokee from Haynes and then paid $1,247.45 for a five-year extended warranty. They wound up saddled with about $4,000 worth of repairs on the Jeep, which should have been covered by the warranty, they said. To their surprise, the five-year contract expired in only two years. A five-year contract should last for five years, they said. When they asked that the warranty be reinstated for the remainder of the five years, Haynes balked and refused to reinstate it, or to reimburse them for repairs. The manager said the warranty expired five years from when the car was delivered to the original owner, not - as the Barneses understood it - five years after the vehicle's limited warranty expired. The two sides eventually deadlocked and Haynes stopped returning their calls and mine. So, the Barneses took their case to John Cole Gayle Jr. of The Consumer Law Group PC in Richmond. This week, Angie Barnes confirmed that Haynes Jeep Chrysler settled with them out of court for $8,000. Haynes Jeep Chrysler had no comment for this article. "I guess it's like David beating Goliath," said Angie Barnes. "I feel like we were able to stop Goliath a little bit and get some concessions where normally people would not have gotten any. I've got this feeling of satisfaction." Haynes Jeep also did not get the "gag order" that it sought, she said - another victory, of sorts. A gag order would have kept the details of the settlement private. It was not a full victory, though. "We never got our warranty rein stated and we're stuck with a car that has so many problems," said Barnes. "We can't afford to buy another car. That's why we had to hang on to it. We'd have to put so much into it to get anything on a trade-in. Also, the Barneses had to split the settlement down the middle with the lawyer. "I guess I'm glad we at least got almost $4,000 to go toward what needs to be done," she said. "But, we're still out $4,000" for repairs already paid for. Having gone through the ordeal, Barnes has this advice for consumers: Have a lawyer review the warranty contract. Be sure the warranty begins when you think it begins. Don't buy a warranty until after you've read the contract. The Barneses signed the sales agreement, but said the contract was not mailed to them until about a month later. Gayle, the lawyer, said the Barneses' persistence paid off. "The message is, if you're persistent and make complaints and force merchants such as car dealers to live up to their promises, even if it involves litigation, often you will get some - but, not necessarily all - of what you want in settlement." He advises consumers who may be considering purchasing an extended vehicle warranty to, "as difficult as it is, read the extended warranty's language" and don't simply rely on discussions with the dealer's employees.
Poland (flakowski jerzy) 8:51 Friday, 2-10-2006
I'm a doctor, a physician, and, from the 2004-08-15, a leased PT-Cruiser user. Except for sometimes jumping out of third gear, I have had no problems up to the third, (36.000 km) dealer service. The troubles began after about 35.000 km. First, the six lamps in the instrument panel of the car came on, and among others, lamp number 4. After adding about 1 l. of oil, the lamps switched off, and all came back to the norm. I've reported it to the Dealer's Service Dept. when I've came there for the car's scheduled third maintenance service. After the service, when I picked up the car, they told me that all was OK, except that the quantity of the oil in the engine before the service exactly 1 l. more than it ought to be. Shortly after that, at about 38.000 km, the steering gear support system broke, and in the car there was a smell of burning. I again went to the Dealer's Service Dept. asking them to repair and service the car, since I was going to go on a holiday in the mountains and I needed to have the car in good condition. After the service they told me that although the car wasn't repaired, nevertheless I could go on holiday because they were almost sure that the car would be roadworthy all the time; but that after holidays and immediately after coming home I ought to come back to The Service Dept. for the rest of service. After the one week holiday in the mountains and on the way home, the car was died - the clutch didn't work. It was on Saturday, 2006-02-18. I've called for the Assistance . They hauled me to the Chrysler Service in Krakow, in spite of my asking for going straight to Warszawa, my home town. They said, that according to the Chrysler ( American) procedures, they must haul me to the nearest Chrysler Service ( from Krakow to Warszawa is about 300 km), in spite of the serious troubles for the client connected to this decision. The Assistance arranged for a substitute car, but to rent it I had to pay a deposit, and to give a lift for the girl who drove me from the substitute car back to the Chrysler Service ( up to this point I knew nothing about these conditions - luckily I had the rest of money in my pockets). I tried to discuss with the Assistance about what to do with the substitute car and with my car after servicing. We agreed that if the PT Cruiser would be ready after no more than 5 days, Assistance would haul it to Warszawa, and on the way back to Krakow the transport truck would take back the substitute car. I came home after midnight. On Monday, 2006-02-20, the Assistance called, telling me that the clutch was burned, that it must be my fault, therefore I must pay for the service and for the spare parts, and I must immediately return the substitute car to Krakow unless I want to pay for it myself since this service don't fall under the guaranty. To burn out the clutch demands some special efforts, and after only 40.000 km it's, frankly, not at all likely. I have been driving for 42 years; I've driven more than 20 cars; traveled more than 1.000.000 km, and have never burned a clutch. This PT Cruiser wasn't used for hauling anything, or for driving in deep sands, snows, or swamps, so there wasn't any possibility to burn the clutch, unless the clutch was inferior or damaged to start with. To change my situation I've called, step by step to successive officers of the Chrysler Poland hierarchy, and at last we agreed that The Assistance will pay for the 5 days rent of the substitute car, and Chrysler Service will pay for the 6-th day but not longer ( the Chrysler procedures don't accept paying longer.). I must drive to Krakow to give back the substitute car, and take my car after the repairing ( I must pay in Krakow, take the burned clutch to Warszawa where the experts will decide who was responsible for the clutch burning, and if the decision will be positive , Chrysler Service will pay me back the money ). After this agreement was reached, I had to answer many more calls regarding immediately going back to Krakow and returning the substitute car. On Tuesday, Chrysler Service Krakow informed me, that the clutch was ordered, but there were none in Poland, so we must wait until Thursday 2006-02-23 for the delivery from the Germany. On Thursday, at the end of day, I called to Krakow for information. They told me that the new clutch was installed, but car was not ready, because the gear box doesn't work, and nobody knows why. I was given two choices: - to leave the car in Krakow for the next week, or - to take the car to Warszawa for the further service. They assured me that the car is ready to travel to Warszawa. I called to the guaranty service chief in Chrysler Poland, and he decided that I must go to Krakow, return the substitute car, take my PT Cruiser from the Service Krakow , and come to Warszawa, where they will take the next steps in repairing my car. So next day, Friday 2006-02-24, I took a day off in my firm, and in the morning went to Krakow. About 70 km to Krakow ,Assistance called and informed me that my car is ready and they want to agree towing PT Cruiser from Krakow to Warszawa, and use the hauler for returning the rented car back to Krakow. I gnashed my teeth, and said, that now it is too late for such a solution and since I'm now only 50 km from Krakow, I'll do all this myself. In the Service Dept. they confirmed the information regarding the car they told me before by telephone. In addition, they found some destruction in the gear box, which probably caused the clutch to burn out. The man from the Chrysler Service Dept. in Krakow told me, "Now you can go to Warszawa, the car has to hold out for this trip. Besides, there is yet something else bad in your car, but we couldn't find it precisely. Maybe in Warszawa they will find the defect and repair it." I came to Warszawa without troubles ( beside the problems with the gear box), but, on the Tuesday 06-02-22, when I was going to Chrysler Service in Warszawa, again the six lamps in the instrument panel were lit up (the lamp number 4 was between them). Now, I stopped, and called for Assistance. They hauled the car to the Service, where again nobody could find the reason of that lamps lighting, but the other damages were confirmed (gear box, and the stee0 ?????. On Wednesday, 06-03-08, we are still waiting yet for the spare parts, from Germany, since Poland Chrysler doesn't have any parts for Chrysler cars I have not had my car 20 days; and I have not had any car 15 days. In summary; I believe there is no other car firm in Poland, who treats their clients so disrespectfully Practically, I have had no car from three weeks, and I don't know when it will end. I have had to take unwanted holidays from my work; many times I was threatened that I must pay for service in spite of the guaranty period, and last but not least, I have no transport, and must pay for a taxi. Chrysler says there is no possibility to rent for me a substitute car, in spite of the fact that all the time we are waiting for spare parts, of which there are none in Poland, and maybe not even in Europe. I firmly believe that my car has damaged itself, and The Chrysler Service in Poland can't repair it (the lighting lamps in the control panel), so at any moment something wrong may occur, an incident which may be very dangerous, nobody knows. Besides, every service takes a very long time. I and my patients have no time to lose. Time is money; I have not money enough to be paying for Chrysler's impotence. Taking into account all these arguments I must demand the replacement of this car for a new one. May be, that the new one will be more reliable than the one I have now. I'm frightened by the perspective of more failures in this car after the guaranty period expires. When I decided to buy the Chrysler car, I hoped for a reliable, secure, worry-free car, which would help me to care for my patients, and in the event of a problem, I could be certain that the Chrysler Service will help me to overcome the troubles. But, what I met instead is what is described above, and in the process I lost all my illusions regarding the quality of Chrysler cars, and integrity of the Chrysler services. I hope that Chrysler's Management honors my claims. I'm a doctor, so a reliable car is absolutely indispensable for my work, and lack of this tool has a very bad influence even on the health of my patients, (my reaction times are much longer). Maybe this last argument helps me convince you of the seriousness of my claim. So, I think, that it is no wonder that the Chrysler's cars selling is going down. After such an experience as mine with Chrysler, it would be very hard to persuade or to urge acquaintances and friends, especially doctors, to buy a Chrysler product. On the contrary, I'll tell everybody what stresses, troubles and losses are connected with Chrysler cars. By the way, I have many questions, and a few out of them I would like to ask you now: 1. Why the Chrysler procedures aren't user friendly, but on the contrary. 2.Why these procedure absolutely aren't adapted to Polish conditions (they are good enough , maybe in the USA, where the distances are many times greater , so the hauling to the nearest Service Point is absolutely well grounded, for the next point is 1000 km or more distant; but in every service point in the States, I think, there are all the spare parts, so nobody waits one or more weeks for the parts to repair the damaged car, so the 5 days as a limit for renting the substitute car is sound, for during these five days all parts in the car could be changed. In Poland 3-5 days it is shortest waiting time for the spare parts, so the limit time for renting substitute car ought to be longer, may be 10-14 days. I've heard, that somebody must wait 1 month for the spare part( it was coming from the States ). 3. Why must I take the substitute car in Krakow, and return this car back to Krakow, instead in Warszawa 4.Why the Assistance hauled me to Krakow, instead to Warszawa, where I live, and bought the car (it's only 300 km) 5. Why Assistance calls me immediately if has for me a bad message, but waits with the good one? 6 How is it possible, that a driver, who has a driving license for 42 years, driven more than 20 cars, traveled more than 100.000 km, and never burned the clutch, the PT Cruiser burned it just after 40.000 km, and, at the start, must pay for it without any investigation So, at the end , just ones more I'll repeat my claim: The only solution is to exchange this PT Cruiser for a new one for me.
Kotby Motore, Laramie Wyoming (Brian) 22:48 Thursday, 11-21-2000
We ordered a new PT from them after waiting 7 mos from another dealer, and still being #29 on their order list. We were looking at Durangos because we couldn't wait for the cruiser any longer. They beat all the big dealerships by $3000 on their first offer for the Durango. They had a Cruiser on the lot that they would have sold us at MSRP if the guy who ordered it had not made a final decision that week. We canceled our order at the 5star dealer and ordered a new one. We are third on their order list, but it has only been three weeks so I havent checked back. They had flowers for my wife, and a dodge cap for me when we went back to pick up the Durango, and called 4 times in the first week to make sure everything was OK. They also sent a Christmas present to us. I think that they are a 5 star dealer, if not they should be. This is the best car dealer that I have ever dealt with. We were introduced to the manager of every department, all great people. I strongly recommend these people to anyone who is looking for a vehicle.

I bought my 03 PT Woody over the internet. The dealer sent all the paperwork to me via DHL and even arranged for a transport company to deliver the car to Connecticut for me. Car was in excellent condition, just as they stated.
Tate Chrysler Frederick, MD (Michael Marmer) 12:17 Wednesday, 9-10-2007
Tate has been in business for a very long time. I first started using them for service to the 1987 Van. Since then I have used the service dept., parts dept., body shoppe and just recently purchased a new vechile from them. The dealer is very honest in all four departments. They don't over sell you. They do what is needed at a fair price. They are very competitive with the local auto shoppes. They have a max cap of $10 for shoppe supplies. My sales experience with the dealer for the new van, was the best sales experience I ever had. No tricks or games. I highly recommend this dealer for all your car needs.
Marty Franich, CA (Flagcom) 15:53 Friday, 11-22-2000
As of 12/20, I was #40 on order list. Dealer has been getting 5-6 PTs per month. But DC told them they would only get 3 more 2001 models between now and May! Where are all the others going? Or is this the German version of coal in the stocking for Christma? I still trust the Dealer, who is frank about the whole thing. He's the one who's getting shafted.I'll let my deposit ride a few more months; there'll be prder cancellations, and maybe some change of heart up above. Hope springs (or winters) eternal.

The Good Dealer has been good and responsive. Many discussions with Al, the manager, about the company (DC) and selling through the internet. Just saw the letter that they are sending out to the cancelled orders - the order list will be preserved, though not price protected. The Bad Originally promised delivery in 12 weeks from order date though!!! It seems that I have learned most of the information that kept me going through this ordering/waiting process here on this site and at ptenthusiasts.org.. It seemed that I knew more about this process than anyone I talked to. Would I recommend them to someone else - YES!
Colonial Motors, Gettysburg, PA (Bill from Gettysburg) 18:32 Thursday, 11-7-2000
Dealer took the order at MSRP with $100 down, but with prior mutual agreement that if the MSRP increased I, as the buyer, would have to pay it. The MSRP on my base model increased $50 which I willingly paid. I 'phoned them several times for a status report (BX, D, D1, etc) and they furnished the info asked. Upon arrival of the car they cleaned it up, did a 50-point quality inspection, and waxed it (free). Salesrep spent 45 minutes explaining features and controls of the car, and 'phoned two days later to further ensure that we were satisfied in every respect. To reach Colonial Motors: (717) 334-4200 and ask for Dave Robinson.
Don White Timonium Chrysler - MD (Chris) 12:21 Monday, 11-25-2000
There have been stories of PT Cruiser price gouging by some Chrysler dealers - I paid the sticker price, but they cut over $2200 from the lowest trade-in value shown in Kelly. In effect, I got price-gouged in a sneaky way. I bought a 1996 Chrysler LHS from this dealer and have been a regular customer for 4+ years. I've spent over $30,000 at this dealer before the $23,000 for the PT Cruiser. So, in less than 5 years, I have given them over $50,000 in business and they screwed me out of $2200. I am only a customer because they are close to where I work, and they are okay for service and sales, but be warned... they really don't give a damn about their customers.
CarMax Atlanta GA (maggie) 16:57 Monday, 11-25-2000
After 6 months of debating all purchase options and having to sell my spouse on the idea, I finally ordered my PT Cruiser dream car prior to Christmas. I ordered online with Gary Moeller, Internet sales consultant. They assure "no haggle" pricing. So far, the experience has been great and the price is equal to MSRP. They charge $100 less than MSRP but charge a $99 processing fee. I was told 60-120 days to get the car. They were upfront in answering all my questions. I am #93 on the list. Anyone with information about their experiences with CarMax in Atlanta, specifically with Gary Moeller are appreciated. By the way, for Christmas my husband gave me a PT Cruiser model car to look at until I get my REAL car.

Dealer was great. Ordered Cruiser in June, received it November 28th. Paid MSRP per our agreement - no surprises. I have also had them put on a couple of extra MOPAR part since and again Dealer has been great.

Had a great experience at Colonial Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep. Ordered my Cruiser May 2 and it was delivered the second week of November, just as the salesman (Ron Ogburn) advertised. This company really takes care of it's customers. Thanks Colonial and thanks to the wonderful staff. (Try these guys - you won't go wrong.)

I order my Cruiser from HW Hunter, Inc, in Lancaster, CA in July 2000, I was 157 on the list. I checked on my Cruiser about mid Dec and was told I was 45 on the list and they are only getting 24 more. I was told I could get on the list for the 2002, but would be 50 on that list. I was disappointed to say the least. Someone suggested I check out www.autotrader.com and I found 17 cruisers within 100 miles of me. I contacted Jeep Chrysler (Freddie Alvaro and Brian Boone) of Ontario, who said they had two Cruisers, a red and a white one which they had just taken off the truck. I said I was interested in the red touring edition, and they took my credit info, I made an offer, they countered and I agreed. Then they said they would deliver that night. It was Christmas Eve!!So they delivered a red PT Cruiser to my driveway, I must have been very good this year. I paid about $2500 to $3000 more than if I had gotten what I had ordered in July, but it was well worth it considering Chrysler is starting production on the the 2002 and they won't be out until July. So if you want a Cruiser and you live in California, contact Jeep Chrysler of Ontario or check out autotrader.com.
Meador Chrysler Texas (David Morgan) 8:8 Tuesday, 0-9-2001
I ordered my PT Cruiser from Meador Chrysler in early May 2000 and received it Sept 4 2001, exactly on schedule. Price was exactly that quoted and the experience was totally satisfactory, indeed, outstanding. The car is everything I expected and more. These people at Meador are outstanding and would unequivocably recommend them to anyone contemplating ordering one. Now its time for my first service and am looking forward to going back in a few days.
Champion Autoplex, Austin, Texas (Inferno Green) 18:34 Thursday, 11-7-2000
I put money down on an Inferno Red PT Cruiser at the end of May, 2000. This car was previously ordered by the dealership so it was already in process and thus would come in sooner than if I ordered one. In July I was informed that it was painted Shale Green. When it came in on July 24th, I was "allowed" to buy the Green at the price originally quoted to me for the Red, even though "they were losing money." You should have seen the shysters. When "my" sales rep and his boss left the room to talk over the deal, the three sales reps still in the room would not talk to me or even look me in the eye. One sales rep has since left the dealership. I sure wish I could talk to him.
Soutar's Chrysler, Barstow CA (MikeM) 22:41 Tuesday, 0-9-2001
Ok...here's the scoop. I ordered a red 28G in early May. I was told it would be between 4 and 7 months. 2 months go by, and i call again, and am told 7 months (ok to this point) and that it will prolly be a little before that because DC is converting a production line in Germany over to PTs late that month (July). November (7 months form order) i was told that i had not moved up on the waitin list, i was still 8th, and 13 people were behind me, and we were shooting for january (9 months from order). Well, its january, i call almost weekly, and get different responses from different people. Just today i walked in and actually saw a waiting list saying my order was next...we'll see about that Other than this (not so) little fiasco, i am todl that they are a reputable chrysler dealer. (At least I'm paying strictly MSRP, or i would've bought another one by now)

Straight talk, honesty, service, and no stress were and are my experience buying my Patriot blue Cruiser. I ordered it April 14 and took delivery October 14. Exactly what I ordered. I paid exactly what we agreed upon even though there was a $500 increase from April. In effect I paid $500 below sticker. Rob Marshall, the salesperson, is a real gentleman! Call him at (309) 837-5757...my cruiser is bliss!

I just had the best car buying experience in my life. Brian Dudley was the best saleman. I picked my car up on Friday 1/12/01. He spent a good hour going over every detail in my car. He was very calm and never pushy when I first ordered the PT Cruiser. Unfortunately the dealership is about 50 miles from my house, so I probably won't be using their service department. Their parts department is great. E-mail: clarkcpj/\at/\worldnet.att.net

Back in 06/12/00 we orderd a crusier, We talked to a salesman and he took our $500.00 and then typed the order in the computer. When I asked for the order all he handed me was someone else order and maked out the color and put our color in. I asked him if he could give me a new order form. He said he would, guess what he didn't anyway in december I called and I asked them what is the status of our order he didn't know and then he gave me a V.O.N. I called chrysler and they said they didn't even have a order. Of course this highly pissed me off. I ask for my money back and we went to another dealer. The is Eastgate Chrysler Plymonth. The salesman thier took his time with us and went though each detail about what we could order. I asked them when we might except the car in he said about in about 4 months. Will to make a long story short, make sure you get in FULL DETAIL about yer order. The salesman at eastgate was very care and took his time with us. If yer in the Indpls area I would Highly recommned you order yer crusier from them.....
Bergeron- Metairie LA (Tony) 20:5 Monday, 0-15-2001
In reading the message board I came across a posting by DAVIO 21:31 Tuesday, 0-2-2001 Let me tell you something. I have dealt with this dealer for my last two new cars. Once in 1995 and again this past year for our PT Cruiser. Davio, you are full of it buddy. BERGERON CHRYSLER is an outstanding dealership. And it's highly unlikely you are telling the entire truth. We used Autobytel.com and had the same sales person. Tina Long was more than a professional at her job. We had a million questions and never once was she ever too busy to help. I bet you I called the dealer about 20 times in the 3 months it took for our car to come in. Each and every time I got an answer. And if Tina Long was not in, it was a matter of a day and no more before I got a call back. BERGERON CHRYSLER is not the sort of dealer that has to screw John Q. Public to sell car's. And if you are a local you should know this. I would tell anyone that from day one BERGERON CHRYSLER was as honest and straight forward with me and my wife. It was Another New Orleans dealer for the car show in the Louisiana Super Dome that lied to us. And after calling 6 dealers in the South Louisiana area BERGERON CHRYSLER was the "ONLY" one that gave us an honest answer on the delivery time on a PT Cruiser. Others was asking for a deposit and told us it would take 8 to 10 weeks. BERGERON CHRYSLER and Tina Long told us it was going to be 3 months. And the car was ordered on April 10, 2000, and we took delivery on July 7, 2000 . And your misspelled remark "I WILL LIKELY BE SUEING THEM" should tell anyone with a half a brain what sort of person you are. If you aren't happy paying MSRP then go to Baton Rouge LA. and pay $7500.00 over MSRP. I know for a fact that is what you had to be quoted. I say that with confidence because we have sent people to BERGERON CHRYSLER as recently as last week and was told that the car was selling for MSRP. I will stand up for this dealer any day of the week. And another thing, TINA LONG and BERGERON CHRYSLER are the reasons our next new car will be a Chrysler. In closing I would like to say that I am in contact with several people who purchased from BERGERON CHRYSLER. And I know they would be happy to back me up. Need a reference feel free to e mail me at TJMYMAN/\at/\aol.com
Bergeron Chrysler (David) 19:2 Tuesday, 0-16-2001
Having canvased the southeastern United States before purchasing my PT Cruiser, I found this dealership to be one of the very few willing to sell cruisers at MSRP. As you know they could have made a monsterous profit. My hat is off to these guys. I have recommended this dealership highly. People have driven across several states to pick up their new car, a couple have even flown in to purchase their cruiser's. We cannot say enough about Bergeron. Thank you Tina Long!
Grava Chrysler Plymouth, MA (JanR) 18:35 Thursday, 11-7-2000
Ordered a PT Cruiser from this dealer in early September. Each time I've gone there and asked them a question, the salesman who is extremely pleasant and friendly seemed uninformed. I could never get any information from them pertaining to #1 - My VON# , #2 - The promised estimated wait has increase from 3 to 4 months to 6 - 8 months. #3 - I asked them to add ABS to my order only 3 weeks after I placed it - and they said they would let me know if they could. They never called me and instead I went to them and they said they couldn't change it?????????? #$ and lastly when I went there yesterday 12/6 to ask them if I made the cut - they had no idea what I was talking about. Couldn't tell me a thing, had heard about anything like that???????? and I am #48 on that list. Bottom line - Keep the consumer in the dark.
Knopf Chrysler Ambler Penn (Steve Makish) 1:21 Wednesday, 0-17-2001
Letter from dealer saying they cancelled my order because I may or may not make the cutoff date. Lame, lame, lame. Used my slot to sell to local people at probably a higher price. My first experience buying a Chrysler product. I also had a lease ready to sign on a Durango, which I cancelled. I will never deal with Chrysler again
Golling Chrysler Jeep Michigan (Bob L) 14:29 Wednesday, 0-17-2001
After being on BX status from another dealer (Bluewater Chrysler) for approximately 9 months, we decided to explore other dealers. We found Golling Chrysler was willing to give us a "In Stock" PT at the EP Price plus an additional $795 for extra options. We got out the door at $21726 for a fully loaded PT stickered at $22204. We are very happy with this dealership and especially our salesman "Don Hart". Their allocation is approximately 10 per week. They have many to choose from if anyone is interested. You can goto their web site at golling.com or email our sales man at donhart/\at/\golling.com. I am highly recommending this dealer!!!!
Bleecker Chrysler, Dunn North Carolina (Claudia ) 0:7 Thursday, 0-18-2001
I got approved online from Diamler Chrysler for 17590.00 for a PT, I called Bleecker in Dunn North Carolina they have had a inferno red parked out front for a few weeks. I told them I had been a approved online, and I wanted to come down and do the paperwork and pick it up. I was approved for $ 17.590.00. The salesman imformed me it was selling for almost $23,000.00. I told him it was like people during a hurrican selling water for double the price. All dealership should have to sell a vehicle at what ever the sticker says by law, where are our right as the comsumer. I then called David O"Neal Inc. in Raliegh, North Carolina talked to the saleslady. she said they were selling them at sticker but didn't have any in stock , and it would be about a month. My approved online credit is only good for 30 days and I have to apply again. But I would rather reapply then let these dealers make $5-6000.00 profit off me. I am going to file a complaint with the government comsumer complaint divison. Does anyone know about any rebates out there for the PT's.
West End Garage, Rahway, NJ (Lou) 11:44 Friday, 0-19-2001
West End Garage took my order in April and told me that my car would be in either late July or Early August. since I passed by the dealership on the way home from work every day, I would stop in for updates and they were more than helpful. It wasn't just "your in BX status" or "there is a hold on some part" It was very personable. Like I was family. Which is what I was told when I asked if they marked up the price like so many other dealers. "We've been in business for 75 years by treating all our customers like family!" They really did.
Capitol City Chrysler, Missouri (WOOD) 9:57 Monday, 0-29-2001
Super Dealer! MSRP on the button no hassle. They are just a little unaware of the PT phenom but definitely will do their best take care of you. Leo Wickers is my salesman and he is a super fellow. They gave me a fairly decent trade on my old worn out (192,000) Voyager.
Berlin Chrysler (Jerz) 18:30 Thursday, 1-8-2001
Love my car - the dealership was fine. Ordered 7/24, delivered 1/13. Very professional - paid MSRP. Low offer on our trade - so we sold our former vehical privately (but we knew that from the beginning - no deals, no incentives on this car). High volume dealership - lots of cruisers in the neighborhood.
Glendale Chrysler Arizona (JS) 13:30 Friday, 1-9-2001
It took this dealership's sales manager to go on vacation before I got a straight story. Since 12/1/00, Mark had been telling me that my car would go in production "next week." When I had Chrysler call him in January, he told the Chrysler rep that my car was scheduled to be built as of December 11, and that it would go into production in 10 days. The most recent story was that my car was a shell, waiting to go into production, but the delay was caused by the color. I found out from Mark's assistant (and verified with Chrysler) that the car has never been scheduled to be built, and that Mark's story about the delay being caused by color is false. Delay in production of a popular car is understandable; lies from a "5 Star Dealer" are not.
Hamden Chrysler Plymouth in Hamden, CT (JAC) 3:58 Saturday, 1-10-2001
Bought a brand new PT Cruiser from Hamden Chrysler Plymouth in Hamden, CT, paying OVER MSRP. BIG MISTAKE!!! Bought from out-of-state and paid to have car shipped (the auto transport company did a great job!) The first thing that I noticed about the car is that the dealership had very sloppily drilled a front license plate bracket with dealer advertisement on the front (without my knowledge or consent)and that it done very crooked (missed the "idiot" indentations on the bumper by 1" on one side and holes were not at a 90-degree perpendicular angle, but rather drilled upwards at about a 145-degree angle!). The window sticker had been removed in violation of federal law. Some obiously incompetent person had apparently sanded the car in places and then taken a high-speed buffer to the entire car (including plastic light lenses and the bumpers) leaving EXTREMELY NOTICABLE swirl marks and circular scratches over the entire car despite my specific request not to even wash the car unless it was by hand. Someone (the same incompetent person?) had apparently taken a dirty cloth (or was it sandpaper?) and left scratches over the plastic on all of the interior plastic gauge covers as well as left a deep scratch on the clock/sound system display. They had tried to bully me into signing papers prior to even seeing the car stating that the car was as I had ordered and that the things which should be done were done (they weren't), and even further having these false statements notarized, swearing under oath to lies. When I called the dealership and talked to the sales manager after receiving the abused and mutilated car, he was very rude before hanging up on me, lying to me about Connecticut laws and saying that they do this to all the cars they sell . If this is supposed to be a "five star" Chrysler dealership, I sure would hate to see what a one star dealership would have done! Chrysler Corporation has been absolutely no help in regards to any of these issues, saying that they are not responsible for anything that a dealership does. No wonder Chrysler is in big trouble!
Glenn Polk Auto Plex Gainesville,TX (Jerry) 23:54 Thursday, 11-7-2000
I was one of the first people to order a PT back in FEB of 2000 from Glenn Polk Auto Plex. I live in TX but own a construction company in Colorado, so I am only here in TX for a short time. When I went to the dealership in FEB I went straight to Glenn himself I hate having to deal with the peaon's. This is a great owner and a great dealership Glenn himself placed the order along with his Chrysler order rep Rob. He told me at the time that he would sell me my LE Cruizer for 3% under invoice and that I did not have to leave a down. GREAT!!! I talked to Glenn and Rob alot and they were always so pleased to help me. My PT came in on August 2 and Glenn held it at the dealer ship untill I could make it down from Colorado. I was so afraid that he was going to sell it before I could make the trip to TX. But Glenn kept his promise and held it on the showroom floor with ropes around it saying "Please do not touch". I thought it was kinda cool when I got to the dealership. Anyways Glenn Polk is a GREAT dealer and I would tell anyone to buy a PT there. Only one bad thing and he told me this about a month before my PT came in that he was no longer going to be able to hold to the invoice thing but he would not hold to the sticker either. I said that it was understandable and how does $20,000 sound (sticker was $20,320). But the only bad thing Glenn is selling to many PT's. I have seen at least 3 silver ones in town and this is a small town. SO BUY YOUR PT FROM GLENN POLK AUTO PLEX IN GAINESVILLE TEXAS

I ordered my silver Limited on Aug 4th, dealer said it would take 6-9 months. Took delivery Feb. 8th. Car was well prepped and came with all the optins I ordered including aftermarket items. I tracked it via info on this website, and even though dealer did not call in advance, I knew a month ahead of time it was coming in. Gave me low value on my trade. Only dealer at the time I ordred that would give me car for list. Also got free lifetime oil changes.
Wullenweber (LSC) 8:2 Tuesday, 1-13-2001
Ordered car in June '00 at MSRP. We were told the car would be in by Feb, '0l. Price would not change and $200 deposit would be refunded if we changed our minds. Called several times to get the status and was told each time things were progressing as scheduled. Called today (2/13/01) and was told that I should have received a letter from Chrysler stating that they have halted production for 2001 and this dealership was only getting about 20 PT Cruisers this year. I wouldn't get one until 2002 at a 2002 price! I wonder when the salesman was going to call me?!? He informed me that I could get my $200 refunded. Something doesn't seem quite right!

Ordered a lmited in Oct 2000, Said it should be in in March 01 WE'LL SEE! Has been pretty decent to me so far... but i recommended them to a friend, to buy there, and they just blew him off, and was really RUDE! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? What a bunch of crap. SO... he just ordered one from the competition (YOUNGBLOODS in Springfield)they were GLAD to have the business he said.
Maple Hill Auto Center, Kalamazoo MI (Gan Uesli Starling) 4:3 Friday, 1-16-2001
Loud, intermittent saxophone blast from brakes. Dealer has failed on two occasions to even locate, much less repair, the problem. See link at: http://om-ah-hum.com/ptlemon I describe the condition in detail there.
David O'neal INC Raleigh , N.C (donna gail) 12:19 Saturday, 1-17-2001
After being laughed at after making a reapectable offer at a local dealer i was determined to fine a dealership that was not trying to rip folks off. Arthur Burks at David O'neal INC is the nicest salesman i have ever dealt with. O'neals dealership sales at MSRP and will do anything they can to assure satisfaction. My PT is loaded at a cost of 22,000.
Belle Mead Garage New Jersey (Conrad) 16:14 Monday, 1-19-2001
Visited dealer in May and was told ordering had been placed on hold. John took all of my information and when ordering opened in July he placed my order. Honored price including package discounts. Since they are receiving a limited allocation order was bumped to a 2002 order with no price guarentee. As it opened someone else got tired of waiting and canceled. I was called and told that I had first shot at it if I wanted it. Blue instead of Black and no heated seats. I said great and am now the owner of my own PT. The next person in line on their list will now be given first shot at my order when its finally built.
Puyallup Chrysler/Plymouth (joescruiser) 11:40 Wednesday, 1-21-2001
The dealership was great. They made no false promises, kept me appraised of my status and when they had a cancellation, they moved me up so my wait wouldn't be as long. When my car did arrive, and financing hadn't yet, they let me have my car right away anyway as said I could bring in the financing later. I would highly recommend this dealer.
Valley Auto - Wenachee, WA (Marty) 6:35 Saturday, 1-24-2001
My wife fell in love with the PT Cruiser before it even hit the market. We ordered hers in March of last year, and took delivery Feb. 5th of this year. Like most people, we had to wait which wasn't that bad...until we got screwed on our trade-in. They wanted to give us $11,000 trade-in value on a 1999 Concorde LX with <17,000 miles. Average book is $14,500. They were unyielding until my wife and I were preparing to leave w/o the Cruiser. I would have walked away all together until I saw the hurt and disappointment in my wife's eye. They finally agreed to give us $12,000. Whoppee!! Steer clear of Valley Auto.

I WOULD RECOMMEND TO NEVER BUY A CAR HERE. IN FACT THE SALES MANAGER ASKED ME IF I COULD JUST BY MY PT CRUISER FROM A DIFFERENT DEALER.

Wife in love, no discount but ... like you chaps over the pond I too was screwed on the trade in.
Barreth Chrysler Center , Washington, MO (Wendy) 16:54 Thursday, 2-1-2001
I ordered my PT Cruiser in April 2000 and took delivery February 2nd and the entire experience was great! I knew from the beginning I'd have a long wait for my own PT Cruiser but I was not in any real hurry. The car was worth the wait!! I absolutely love it! My salesperson went over the car completely with me and I've received follow up information from the dealer already. I highly recommend them for all Chrysler/Dodge purchases!
Kayser Chrysler Sauk City WI (Peter K) 15:12 Thursday, 2-15-2001
We ordered our PTC March 25, 2000 with a $100 deposit and had it delivered at the begining of Sept, 2000. We we very pleased with the dealership. They kept us inform throughout the wait. When it came to our trade-in, we were worried that we would not receive a fair price due to the long wait. We were wrong. We did much better than we had hoped for. We paid MSRP for our new PTC knowing that there were Dealers out there who were marking the price up by several thousand dollars. When we went in for our first oil change.... it was free.
Puyallup Chrysler/Plymouth WA (Connie Renz) 10:16 Monday, 2-19-2001
Went to the dealership on a Monday morning to order a PT. Picked one up on that Wed PM after the person who had ordered it didn't want it. (We were getting a slightly used one from Canada, but the ordered new one was better equipped.) What a fabulous surprise!! The salesman, Karl, is wonderful as is the service/repair department. Puyallup deserves the 5 star rating!
MASSEY CHRYSLER PLYMOUTH (Tom Holton) (Mark Harman) 15:53 Monday, 2-19-2001
Don't wait. Find the best deal and do it. I wasted eight months waiting for a PT Cruiser that would never come. It was frustrating and times I wanted to say "to hell with it" and forget it. After visiting the classified site on PT Cruizer.com and seeing the postings, I called a few and finally decided to order one from Tom Holton, who represents Massey Chrysler Plymouth. Everything was handled professionally and, as I said above, I had my Cruizer in about six weeks. It was the best decision. I love my PT Cruzier and I'm glad I didn't give up. Thanks. And I hope you get yours!
Dayton-Andrews, Clearwater, Fl. (PT Mac) 19:47 Tuesday, 2-20-2001
I ordered from Shawn Curto at Dayton Andrews in Clearwater, Florida in September and was told 4 to 6 months wait. I said no problem, I understand that up front and will not be bothering you every week like I am sure some people do. He said that he appreciated my understanding and would notify me of any developments. I stopped by in November to check things out and was shown the Dial 46 report and was again told that I should have my car in February or March, that I would get a call 4 to 6 weeks before it got here so I could be prepared. Well as we all know DC informed it's dealers in December who would make the cut for 2001. I did not hear a word from Shawn so I assumed everything was on track for Feb. or March. When my 6 month anniversary came up I gave him a call because I hadn't heard from him. He informs me that I did not make the cut for 2001, but would get one of the 2002 models in Sept. However if I wanted, I could purchase someone else's cancelled order for $3000.00 over MSRP, which equates to 3,000 more than what I ordered mine for. He gives me this line that people that just walk in and buy off the lot pay a premium for not having to wait for an order. Gee, what is 6 months, now changed to a year, when I was told 4 to 6 months when I ordered. I made the mistake of trusting the word of a salesman, so shame on me. So now I know what type of dealership this really is. Needless to say I am now relegated to doing just what I felt was the improper thing to do. I have now placed my name on the list of 6 other dealers, and I will buy from the first one with an acceptable car and deal that fits my needs. At this point I am now seriously thinking of getting a Toyota RAV 4 or Honda CRV. Not only would I get the satisfaction of not giving my business to DC, or a domestic "rip-off dealer", I would probably end up with a more fuel efficient and dependable vehicle.
Robinson Ehret-Yankton, South Dakota (Fred F Griffin) 6:46 Friday, 2-23-2001
I live in Sioux City, Iowa. The dealer in this small Midwest city is 5 star rated. My wife and I decided to purchase a Cruiser after months of deliberation. On Saturday morning we proceeded to the dealer. On arrival, we noticed a new Cruiser in front of the dealership. Entering the building my wife asked the first sales person if she could sit in the vehicle......she was hooked. Me, I was hooked monthes ago. After we sat down with the sales person to discuss our new mutual love, my wife and I found out the demand was high and that we would have to order one. Approximately 9 months was the time given for our new arrival.(kind of like waiting for a new baby)We left a 500 dollar check for deposit and was told that the price quoted was no guarentee. It would probably be higher.(man they had us bigtime!) We hunkered down for our long ordeal.....One week later we received a call."We can't order any more till April. You will be on the list to reorder."...Reality set in...God grant me the courage to change the things I can...That night, I had a vission(just a thought sounds better)about trying a dealership that I had come across on the net,ROBINSON EHRET,of Yankton, South Dakota. I phoned the toll free number after work and asked if they had any Crusiers available. The man who answered very calmly replied,"It must be your lucky day."........The Inferno Red Cruiser is resting comfortably in our new nursury...Thank You ROBINSON EHRET dealership and Thank You Rod for your honest and professsional work. You have gained new costumers and more important new FRIENDS! This Dealer is the REAL DEAL!
POMOCO C/P, Hampton, Virginia (Happy in Alabama) 16:4 Saturday, 2-24-2001
Wes Blow delivered my Red Inferno 28G as ordered at MSRP + some minor fees in 52 days!!! I am acquainted with my local dealer and he said a Jul delivery for my Dec order up until it was cancelled and he offerred to defer me to a 2002 list. Wes took my order telephonically on Jan 24. Received my deposit on Jan 30. Cruiser was at local dealer lot on Mar 17. It was a direct ship from the factory to my local dealer's lot. My local dealer charged a $200.00 courtesy delivery fee for this. It would have cost me $800.00+ to ship it door-to-door from POMOCO's lot back to Alabama. I was also able to visit Wes and POMOCO on a business trip to Hampton. I found him very professional and helpful. Couldn't be happier with the car or Wes' performance. I recommend him to you if you've had trouble getting a cruiser !! Call Wes Blow at (757) 826-1100.
Bergeron Chrysler Metairie,LA (PatG) 6:0 Sunday, 2-25-2001
Great! After trying to deal with home town dealer and those nearby but they wanted thousands over MSRP and huge cash deposits, found Bergeron on the internet and the whole ordering process was done by telephone and mail including signing order and sending deposit ($500). My questions were always answered and phone calls always returned. Order went into DC 12/14/2000, D1 on 2/14/2001 and built the first week of March 2001. It was at the dealer's on 3/21/2001 and I got it 3/24. Carri Bordlee was lovely to deal with and the sales manager ALWAYS gave me info I requested. All changes to order given to Carri were performed and everything I asked for on the car was there at pickup. Carri, Manny and Tina were a pleasure to deal with - what a difference to deal with people who know the PT, sell a lot of them and "only" charge $194 over MSRP. True, they didn't offer enough to make a trade in worthwhile and I'm having to sell my truck myself which is a bummer but otherwise, highly recommend this dealership.
WETASKWIN (CANADA-AB) PIONEER CHRYSLER (Tammy) 19:24 Monday, 2-26-2001
Love the dealership! After 3 weeks and 3 different dealerships not taking me serious (I am a woman you know). I ended up in Wetaskwin about 3/4 of a hour from where I live (Red Deer, AB CANADA). They were GREAT! It took 10 hours of our time and there time but I left there in my 2001 Blue Touring Edition PT Cruiser. We purchased the car on Feb. 13th and on Feb. 14th yep Valentine's day...some guy ran the stop sign and caused my new PT $3,000.00 worth of Damage. Then while at the body shop they found factory deffects in the paint on the passenger door and the hood. So I took it back to Wetaskwin to show it to the dealer, on the way back a big truck through a rock back at me and put a nice sized chip in the door the body shop had just painted. And now Friday March 23rd we had a big snow storm and my PT locked up going around the corner and slid into the curb, causing $1,040.00 worth of damage. So, is my car in need of a exorsism or am I jinxed? My first brand new vehicle has become a nightmare. I hope everyone else is having better luck with there PT then I am. I am thinking of getting a personalized plate saying CTC (Crash Test Car). I recently purchased a ticket for a draw on a PT cruiser, if I win........I will have a parts car!!!!!!

WETASKWIN PIONEER CHRYSLER (Tammy) 19:34 Monday, 2-26-2001
I am in Canada and see posts all the time from people in the USA saying they are paying to much for there PT Cruiser. In Canada at least in Alberta...there are lots of them, I went to several Dodge Chrysler dealerships when looking for mine, and each place had at least 4-6 of them and they were going for what they should be. I bought my 2001 Touring Edition PT for $30,000.00 CANADIAN that is a little less then $20,000.00 US I believe. The dealership made me sign a paper saying I wasn't selling the car in the USA...I laughed, I thought he was kidding. He wasn't, I guess allot of the PT here in Canada are getting bought to resell in the USA. I wonder why we have so many and the US doesn't?? I went to one dealership that had 40 PT's in transit. P.S. If in Canada....I recommend buying your vehicle from Wetaskwin Pioneer Chrysler Jeep Eagle, GREAT PEOPLE!!
Meador Chrysler (Texas) (Clarke Kido) 8:10 Wednesday, 2-28-2001
>My PT cruiser 28G Taupe frost arrived today 3/27/01! Let me tell you about my pleasant buying experience. I placed my order on 12/22/00 with Sean Dougher at Meador Chrysler in Fort Worth (817/535-0535). Three days later I received a signed copy of the contract and vehicle order number. All the options that I ordered were clearly listed with prices at the MSRP. At my request, Sean included a note in the contract that I did not want his dealership's Masterguard protection - this saved me $500 in dealer prep charges. Sean kept me posted every 2 weeks with the count-down and scheduled build date. When my VIN and build date were verified, Sean called local transport companies to make arrangements to deliver the car to me in Eastern Idaho. He found that an open trailor shipment to my home ($600) was less than the cost of me flying to TX and driving back (1500 miles). > >Sean told me that the Meador dealership has 50 open contract orders for more PT cruisers. He added that he is still taking new orders. The new orders that he placed on March 6 have moved along quickly and will be built March 31 (that's less than one month from order date to build!). > >I am very satisfied with Sean Dougher and highly recommend him. I should point out that I handled all of my contact with Sean via phone, Fedex and email. I have never travelled to the dealership nor have I met Sean in person. I discovered the Meador dealership by reading the PT cruiser forum. If anyone has questions, please contact me (Clarke Kido, ckido/\at/\srv.net).

Very satisfactory transaction. This dealer was honest about every detail. The salesman communicated with me throughout the lonnnnnnnng wait, he was always willing to provide updates and encouragement. Very positive experience, my salesman, Tony Aflatoonati (or something like that :)....) is a great guy.....can I help it if his name i hard to spell?

It didn't take much searching around this small town to hear of others who had cancelled their PT Cruiser orders upon hearing that this dealer would not honor the Chrysler May 9, 2000 price guarantee. Maybe I should have searched for a 10 Star dealer; since a 5 Star dealer means nothing?

Ed Voyles Chrysler- Marietta, Georgia (Brian Holcomb) 6:53 Monday, 3-9-2001
I got my '01 Black LE in less than 24 hours, and LOVE IT! After trying 3 dealerships, I test drove a used 'Cruiser on a Sunday to make my decision (interestingly, the used pt's seem to go for more than the new ones). All 3 dealerships were out of new pt's in the colors I wanted- but rather than order one, I decided to just network, and keep checking on multiple dealerships. I let them all know I had already been approved by my Credit Union for purchase. I got a call on Monday morning that a new black LE with 50 miles on it had turned up (apparently, the woman who ordered it had gotten impatient and told the dealership to go to hell a week previous) So in 2 hours it was mine, and I paid fair market value!! MY IMPRESSION: Don't pre-order, get pre-approved, and just keep looking.
POMOCO - Hampton, VA (Richard Frith) 16:32 Saturday, 3-14-2001
I'm sure that many of you have read posts on this site by Wes Blow at POMOCO in Hampton, VA. and his availability of PT Cruiser allocation. Our experience turned out just perfectly. Wes kept in touch almost weekly. We ordered Feb. 12th. and picked up the car April 7th. The car was in perfect condition and the delivery was done in a highly professional manner.
Paramus Chrysler, Paramus NJ. (Darrin) 14:39 Tuesday, 3-17-2001
Walked into the dealer at 3PM drove my PT off the lot at 7PM! After a couple of hours of negotiating, I got the car for exactly what I wanted to pay. I also got a good deal on my trade-in and financing. I highly recommend them. If you go there, ask for "Izzy". Great salesperson who wasn't "pushy" at all. Very friendly. Tell them Darrin recommended you. :)
Tobin Chrysler Plymouth, Clinton NY (Bob Stan) 11:10 Thursday, 4-3-2001
Ordered car in February and was told there could be up to a 7 month wait. Required $500 non-refundable deposit. Sold at list price. Car actually delivered 2 months later. Would recommend dealer to anyone, but they are low volume.
